When The Beatles came to Abergavenny on June 22, 1963, it was a moment that put the South Wales town on the map. Abergavenny had never seen anything like it, with John Lennon arriving at the gig in a specially chartered helicopter. Unseen photographs of The Beatles and other memorabilia, which had been estimated to sell for about £5,000, have sold for more than £13,000 at auction. Sue Baker, from Reading, took the pictures in the 1960s after finding the homes of the Fab Four. The photo album was sold to an American bidder. read more »

A roadside 'greasy spoon' cafe in Gloucestershire which was a favourite stop-off in the 1960s for stars such as The Beatles is to be sold at auction. The Silver Fox opened as a cafe for the first time in 1947 and was a favourite break for acts touring between London and Wales. The cafe has a guide price of £300,000 (about $468,000). read more »

This may be the most quintessential Vegas lawsuit. The Fab Four out of Nevada has been impersonating the Beatles in musical tributes. They are now effectively suing the Fab 4 of Colorado for impersonating them impersonating the Beatles. The Nevada Fab Four insist that the Colorado Fab 4 look too much and sound too much like them — in looking and sounding like the Beatles. Got it? You might be surprised by how much you can make as a faux Beatle. 7/21/2010      Dinner for Schmucks pays $1.5 Mil for Fool on the Hill

The Beatles have allowed their classic, Fool on the Hill, to be used as the song over the opening credits in the new film, Dinner for Schmucks. The film comes from Dreamworks, which means Spielberg, who is Paul McCartney's neighbor in the Hamptons. Also, the film's producer says that both McCartney and Yoko One saw and liked the movie. read more »

Stella McCartney has been appointed creative director for the British Olympic team for London 2012. McCartney already has her own collection with Adidas but admits this will be very different. Beatles tribute band The Fab Four filed suit last week in Las Vegas against its competitor, The Fab 4. The Fab Four has produced and performed tributes to the Beatles since 1996. The lawsuit alleges that The Fab 4 is "essentially identical in sound and appearance" to The Fab Four, referring to the names of the bands and their websites. read more »

Apple Corps and EMI announce the remastered CD and digital download releases of 15 key albums from the Apple Records catalog. All 15 titles will be released on October 26, 2010. A new painting of John Lennon has been unveiled in Liverpool by Joe Flannery, the Beatles' booking manager. The painting, by Hamburg artist Sven Reimers, is called The John Lennon Story. Joe said, "Its portrayal of John over the years, with Yoko, in front of The Dakota Building and with the band, is second to none." read more »
