Peacocke Beatles Day success

Talented students from Rye's Thomas Peacocke College raised £500 for Rye Memorial Care Centre when they held a Beatles Day on Friday.
The school hall was packed as students performed their tribute to the Fab Four.

Students from all year groups performed a variety of Beatles songs including 'Can't Buy Me Love', 'Come Together', Helter Skelter, Let It Be, Blackbird, I Saw Her Standing There and While My Guitar Gently Weeps.

Head of Music Chris McGeever said, "Wow! What a great show! It was packed out. We had students, parents and friends from the community all packed into the main hall.

"The students were simply sensational. They choose their own favourite Beatles songs from different stages of the Beatles recording career.

"These songs are not quite as easy to play as you might think. The students did a great job. We also raised a few quid for the good people at the Rye Memorial Care Centre who do a smashing job, so all in all, it was a good day."
